What is it with lesbians and kelly clarkson? More specifically, what is it with lesbians and "Since U Been Gone"? It seems like everytime there is a large congregation of lezzies and that song comes on they go ape shit and jump up and down and scream along. I downloaded the song for research and I just don't get it. I even put it on in my living room and jumped up and down and did my best to go ape shit but really was just kind of, "eh". Maybe there is something I'm missing. I put it on to the car and sang along, yes the words have been burned into my brain. A girl at the office where I used to work loved it and would play it on repeat through out the day. I wanted to stab myself in the face and secretly hoped that every cd, album and ipod containing that song would simultaneously get hit by a bus. Again, I don't get it. yes, its catchy and angsty and poppy and, though I no longer want to stab myself in the face when I hear it, (secretly I even enjoy it from time to time) it does not drive me to scream and dance. Please explain.

really?i thought it was only straight ridiculously conservative religious girls who go ape shit over that song...or maybe its just where i live (which is tx and happens to be the home of clarkson..so um yeah)

Straight, lesbians, trans, homo whatever; it is purely subjective to one's preference and interpretation of the said song, just like say..modern art?

Being said, I'm sorry but I do not dig that song..

Thanks for sharing though, DB.

if it is kelly AND reba singing it, it is impossible to resist. also, i would chalk it up to the change in lyrics during live performances. check this link and listen to the line after "you're dedicated, you took the time"

ps - maybe hams and i are gonna be 4th row for kelly and reba in october. maybe.

Hi Dirty Ballerina,

How is everything going? I hope great.

Good to see that you're writing in your blog again.

Are you enjoying the summer?

I back on Monday from my holidays. One word to describe them: relax. I didn't do anything! I've been so lazy. And that's sometimes is boring.

But I had a great time.

The thing is that I think is great to go out of the big city a few weeks but, at the end, I feel that I miss my diary routine. Doesn't happen that to you?

About Kelly Clarkson song, I have to say I don't like it very much.

By the way, I wanna tell you that you maybe will find interesting my blog latest entry.

(A few months ago I asked a friend to make a drawing of you, and she finally made it! ;P)

Stay well, strong and cool dear DB!

Im a lesbian and i never got that urge when Kelly Clarkson came on. I do like to request Deborah Gibson's shake your love and I have been known to jump around to that. But I have no answer to justify the Kelly Clarkson thing.

Personally I think Kelly Clarkson is very cute, and for me the song is empowering, and of course it's kick ass in the vine Pat Benatar's You Better Run. Many people find kick ass women very hot, and Kelly is that for me. This may not help you at all but that's my stab at it.

Peace Out,

Wanda

Warning: from Europe, so really don't understand the Clarkson thingy.

But I'd rather jump up and down and scream to The Wannadies with "You and me song"

Reason number one: There was a rumor about Kelly being gay. Kelly is pretty. Lesbian likes girls. Easy equation to figure out.

Reason number two: Lesbian relationships are dramatic. The song is about celebrating being out of a dramatic relationship. I think most lesbians find it empowering because most lesbians tend to hold on to their heartbreak for a long time. So a song that says "I'm doing better without you" is a much needed anthemn for overly emotional chicks.
